Official launch of the « Deep Congo » campaign: for lasting peace in the DRC
The official launch of the « Congo Profond » campaign initiated by Dr Debora Kayembe Buba took place on 02 April from the United Kingdom and throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative aims to explore the depths of the Congo, celebrating its rich socio-cultural heritage and calling for a profound transformation to promote peace and combat poverty in the region.
Deep Congo will begin its activities in the regions of Katanga and Kivu in May and September 2024 respectively. This initial launch will mark the start of a journey across all the Congolese territories. Thereafter, the campaign will gradually spread to other regions such as Équateur, Bandundu, Kongo Central and beyond, embracing the diversity and cultural richness of the entire DRC.
At the heart of this initiative is a vibrant call to rediscover our identity, to take concrete action and to show solidarity in transforming our beloved country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. Congo Profond is thus positioning itself as a campaign for change and a driving force for lasting peace. The ravages of decades of armed conflict and violence have deeply scarred the Congolese social fabric, but this campaign aims to heal these wounds and pave the way for a future of reconciliation and prosperity.
It is essential to stress that the success of this campaign will depend on the commitment of everyone: from dedicated Congolese citizens to committed international partners, non-governmental organisations and state institutions. Everyone is invited to contribute to this noble cause and to support the movement towards a more united, peaceful and prosperous Congo.
