The ‘Deep Congo’ campaign began its journey on 7 May, launching its first phase in the Grand Katanga region, where Dr Debora Kayembe and the entire Full Options Global team have been working hard with volunteers to ensure the success of this first phase. As a member of the Lubakat community, Dr Debora Kayembe visited the headquarters of the Buluba-I-Bukata socio-cultural association in Lubumbashi. This meeting, a genuine exchange of ideas and perspectives, proved to be a pivotal moment in the campaign’s dynamic.
After kicking off the ‘Deep Congo’ campaign in Lubumbashi, in the province of Haut-Katanga, it was extended to Kolwezi, in the Lualaba region, for the same exercises with volunteers, before returning to its starting point in Lubumbashi for the final phase on Saturday 11th. It was against this backdrop that Dr Debora Kayembe was welcomed by the notables of Buluba-I-Bukata, a meeting marked by warmth and enthusiasm.
The high point of the meeting was the vibrant exchange between Dr Debora Kayembe and the notable Benga Mukose, who warmly welcomed the visit. This enabled Dr Debora Kayembe to immerse herself in the day-to-day realities of the local people, highlighting the challenges and struggles facing the community.
More than just a meeting, this visit laid the foundations for a fruitful collaboration between Dr. Debora Kayembe and the Buluba-I-Bukata association in promoting the sustainable and socio-cultural development of the region, in order to build the capacity of local communities for a better future.
As Deep Congo continues to make its way through the country’s winding roads, this meeting will be remembered as a moment of true human connection, and a testament to the vital importance of preserving and celebrating the diverse riches that make up Congo’s beauty and strength, while laying the foundations for a promising future for generations to come.
