On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, a glimmer of hope arises in the DRC with the official launch of the « Deep Congo » campaign. Initiated by Dr. Debora Kayembe Buba, former rector of the University of Edinburgh and founder of the humanitarian organization « Full Options Global, » this campaign aims to explore the depths of Congo, highlighting its rich socio-cultural heritage and calling for profound transformation to promote peace in the region.
This campaign, which will begin in the regions of Katanga and Kivu in May and September 2024 respectively, marks the beginning of a journey through all Congolese territories. Indeed, after these initial steps, it will gradually expand into other regions such as Equateur, Bandundu, Kongo Central, and many others, thus embracing the diversity and cultural richness of the DRC as a whole and proposing solutions to the problems the organization will encounter.
At the heart of this initiative lies an urgent call for awareness of our identity, action, and solidarity for the transformation of our beloved and beautiful country, the DRC. « Deep Congo » thus positions itself as a lever for change and an engine for sustainable peace. The horrors of decades of armed conflicts and violence have left deep scars in the Congolese social fabric, but this campaign aspires to heal these wounds and pave the way for a better future.
Through awareness-raising initiatives and intercommunal dialogue, « Deep Congo » is committed to creating conditions conducive to peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
It is important to recall that the success of this campaign will depend on the involvement of all: from Congolese citizens to international partners, including non-governmental organizations and state institutions.
