On Friday 20 September, Dr Debora Kayembe chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the UK French Film Festival.
At this meeting, Mrs Debora Kayembe, Chair of the Board, surrounded by several other members of the Board, warmly welcomed a new member, Mr Ian LeBruce. Together they discussed upcoming projects, including the programming of a film that will highlight the violence and injustice that the DRC has suffered for decades.
The film, due to be screened at the November festival, is the result of Dr Debora Kayembe’s passion and love for the DRC, and her commitment to seeing peace return to the east of the country. In fact, she played a key role in the content of the film, seeing it as a crucial opportunity to denounce the devastating consequences of the war that is costing the lives of millions of Congolese. On 11 November, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr Debora Kayembe will take the opportunity to speak about the dramatic situation in the east of the DRC, in the presence of the director and other guests.
Her leadership and management go beyond her administrative responsibilities; she embodies a genuine struggle for justice and peace, using this platform to draw attention to the injustices and attrocities that persist in her country, the DRC.
